We get involved in social, cultural and economic life – especially in the towns of Nürtingen and Geislingen. We are strongly committed to the principles of sustainability.

The University understands Sustainable Development with its three pillars (economic, environmental, and social) in a similar way to the United Nation’s global discourse. Nürtingen-Geislingen University stresses the need to create economic value for the benefit of all while respecting ecological boundaries. The University wants to attain and be guided by the following strategic goals in order to enable Responsibility through Education:

We want to address the urgent need for transformation and the values and divergent goals of Sustainable Development. We encourage our students to embrace change and to think in a progressive way.

We want to provide all our students with the opportunity to develop sustainability competencies both specific to their subject and within an interdisciplinary context.

 We want to create the conditions required for practice-related research in order to extend the knowledge base of Sustainable Development.

Through the use of scientific discourse and the transfer of research results, we want to enable people from within and without the University to get involved in Sustainable Development.

Responsibility through Education is also reflected in how the University is run. We are setting up structures that will make it easier to act sustainably and this, in turn, should improve the University’s operations.
