Further Education "AI & Immersive Web Based Experience Management"
Digital further education at university level - our part-time, system-accredited digital study programme at the International Digital Business School of the HfWU with the possible degrees:
- Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS): 2 courses, 12 ECTS
- Certificate degree: 1 course, 6 ECTS
In the Certificate programme, we offer a total of ten course combinations, each consisting of two course modules.
CAS "AI & Immersive Web Based Experience Management"
The Certificate of Advanced Studies ‘AI & Immersive Web Based Experience Management’ includes the following two course modules, which can also be completed individually as a certificate course:
Course I: AI based Customer Experience Management
This course dives into how AI transforms marketing and sales. You’ll explore analytics, automation, chatbots, and robotic process automation, while learning to design AI-powered customer touchpoints and digital organizations. Gain insights into new roles, skills, and advanced strategies to stay ahead in the digital landscape. A central element of the course is the examination of AI (artificial intelligence).
Content Sub-course ‘Digital Customer Touchpoints with AI/ Chatbots’ - Julia Lehmann:
- The basics of customer experience: definitions, differentiations and concepts
- Data strategy as the basis for a good customer experience: demystifying artificial intelligence
- Big data examples at a glance - industries, strategic approaches, areas of application: Problem, solution and added value
- Chatbot design principles
- Development of a customer experience concept
- Derivation of a requirements concept for a chatbot
- Configuration of a chatbot
- Introduction to ChatGPT
Content Sub-course 'Robotic Process Automation/ digital marketing & sales organization' - Benjamin Ferreau:
- Understand the influence of robotic process automation in marketing
and sales and be able to develop concepts for it - Understand and design digital marketing and sales organizations

Course II: Immersive Web & 3D Technologies
The course introduces the fundamentals of 3D modeling, covering key concepts like lighting, rasterization, vectors, transformations, and textures. You’ll gain a solid understanding of real-time 3D on the web, including performance and limitations, and learn to develop interactive and immersive web experiences. With practical tools like Google Modelviewer, Spline, WebGL, and Webflow, you’ll design interactive 3D web applications, create your own 3D models, and evaluate immersive environments for performance and user experience impact.
Content 'Immersive Web & 3D Technologies' - Philipp Roth:
- 3D modeling (light, rasterization, vectors, transformations, textures, etc.)
- Real-time 3D (on the web) (performance, restrictions, etc.)
- Development of interactive experiences on the web
- Understanding the importance of immersive web experiences
- Importance of interactivity / immersiveness for the user experience
- Be able to design interactive 3D web applications, in particular with the Google Modelviewer, Spline and WebGL (using Webflow if necessary)
- Be able to create your own 3D modeling (e.g. with Spline)
- Be able to evaluate immersive 3D web environments (performance, etc.)
- Excursus: Virtual reality, especially web-based VR (e.g. with the Meta Quest 3 / 4)
The course takes place every winter term.
Target group
The 'AI & Immersive Web Based Experience Management' further education programme is aimed at specialists and managers who work or want to work in the areas of sales, channel management, CRM, customer service and customer experience management.
Advanced further training
In addition to the Certificate of Advanced Studies, the Diploma of Advanced Studies (30 ECTS) in various specialisations can be achieved by completing three further courses. If you fulfil the requirements for the Digital Master programme, your CAS can also be credited towards this. A certificate course can also be credited to a corresponding Diploma programme or Digital Master course.

Scope & degrees
- A CAS comprises 2 course modules of 6 ECTS (12 ECTS in total) over 1-3 semesters.
- The Certificate of Advanced Studies is awarded by Nürtingen-Geislingen University on successful completion of the two course modules.
- A certificate course comprises 6 ECTS credits and lasts one semester.
- Taking the exam for the certificate course is optional. If you take the exam, you will receive a certificate from Nürtingen-Geislingen University. If you do not take the exam, you will receive a certificate of attendance.
- In addition to the Certificate programme, a Diploma programme can be completed, or a Digital Master programme if the requirements are met. A certificate course is also fully creditable for the Digital Master programme as well as for a corresponding diploma programme.
Study programme structure

- Each module usually comprises two weekends with live video sessions as well as a case study and self-study via e-learning.
- CAS: 8 seminar days, plus ongoing supervision of case study & project work by lecturers via e-learning platform
- Certificate: 4 seminar days, plus ongoing supervision of case study & project development by lecturers via e-learning platform
- The course phases run from the end of March to mid-July (summer semester) and from the beginning of October to the beginning of February (winter semester), with breaks over Whitsun and Christmas as well as on bridging days.
- The lectures take place on Fridays from 4.15 pm to 8.15 pm and on Saturdays from 8.30 am to 4.15 pm Central European Time CE(S)T.
Requirements & financing
There are no formal admission requirements for participation in certificate courses and certificate programmes
Fees:
- Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS, 2 courses):
EUR 1.100 twice / per semester and one-time EUR 100 examination fee - Certificate (single): EUR 1.150 and one-time EUR 100 examination fee (participation in the examination and the EUR 100 examination fee are optional)

Participation & examination fees are tax-deductible in many countries or can be (partially) reimbursed/ payed directly by the employer
