Content:

The primary objective of this module is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand and apply the key strategic, operational, and legal aspects of logistics management. Students will learn how to transfer this knowledge to practical scenarios, enabling them to address real-world logistics challenges effectively. Furthermore, the module aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the logistics function within companies while fostering practical competencies. Logistics management is closely linked to sustainability, playing a critical role in reducing environmental pollution and advancing social and economic responsibility. This course introduces students to the three dimensions of sustainability—economic, ecological, and social—and explores their interrelation with logistics. Students will gain insights into the inherent conflicts between these objectives and learn strategies to balance them. Course contents are as follows:

  • Basics: Definition, development, delimitation, and tasks of logistics
  • Strategic and Operational Logistics Management: Understanding decision-making at different levels
  • Procurement Logistics: Managing supply-side processes and resources
  • Internal Logistics: Inbound and outbound operations within organizations
  • Distribution Logistics: Planning and controlling product delivery to customers
  • Disposal Logistics: Handling returns, waste, and recycling processes
  • Sustainability in Logistics: Integrating economic, ecological, and social dimensions into logistics practices
  • Digitalization and Information Flows: Leveraging technology for efficient logistics operations

As a cross-functional topic in business administration, logistics management builds on foundational knowledge. To fully benefit from this module, students should have achieved the learning outcomes of related prior modules, particularly those focusing on the fundamentals of business administration and subject-specific business topics.
